At the moment I am working on a short book-length manuscript with the working title The Defensive Mind. You can find the manuscript here:

I invite all comments that make for a better manuscript. I am especially interested in errors I have made, suggestions for improvements, sentence and paragraph rewrites, crucial omissions, and additional important areas to include. I welcome even reframing that makes for a better manuscript.

Obviously, I will acknowledge all contributions in the final version of the manuscript. I would like to get a manuscript that represents the best knowledge currently possible in this general area.

I am also open to potential collaborators able to add to the quality and broader appeal of the manuscript. That is why I am sending out this invitation to such a wide range of potential readers able to make concrete suggestions for improvements. I gratefully acknowledge the value of a collective mind.

The manuscript at this point tells a story of the many ways psychological defenses inhabit human personality, relationships, and narratives about religion, politics, morality, and much more. It is a story about the ways defenses help define our personal identities and embed our institutional structures (e.g., justice, stratification). The manuscript tries to tell a story readable by most anyone in contemporary society, but also present a scholarly backing of the story.

Again, I will appreciate your thoughts.
